This short mystery is first of all fine prose.Its language is neat, precise, sharp.
Unfortunately it is also realistic and therefore depressing. I do not like to be reminded that individuals count for less and less the more years pass.
The mystery element was well executed but not brilliant. As the writer respects the rule that the murderer must be someone known to the reader I found it easy to pinpoint the whom and the why halfway through the story. That the victims were ba***rds was only little comfort.
While characterization was very good in itself, especially for a short, the fact that the lead and narrator was gay was not relevant to the plot: with a few word switches he could have been a woman as well.

I liked the unusual title and cover, found the description well written, and was pleased the story lived up to my expectations. I agree with most of what the previous reviewer, Furio, said and was surprised he gave the story only three stars as I felt it well above average. I look forward to reading more by this author.
